Online School Year Gets Underway at iQ Academy Minnesota

FERGUS FALLS, Minn.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–#onlinelearning–Students logged onto the first day of school at iQ Academy Minnesota (iQMN) on September 3. An online public school program of Independent School District No. 544 (Fergus Falls), iQMN provides a tuition-free public education option for students in kindergarten through 12th grade across the state.

Combining innovative technology with a rigorous curriculum, iQMN provides each student with a personalized learning experience. Students in all grade levels take a full course load in the core subjects of math, science, history and English/language arts, as well as world languages, music and art. Electives are available to high school students, as well as dual college enrollment opportunities through the Post-Secondary Enrollment Option (PSEO) enrollment. Students are offered exposure to academic and career-focused content as they work towards their high school diploma.

“With every new school year, our goal is to empower students to become independent, self-motivated learners,” said iQMN middle school teacher Ciara Rose. “Our online classrooms allow students to attend public school at home, where they can explore their passions and build confidence in their unique abilities. Our teachers strive to develop meaningful connections with students to encourage their love of learning, in a safe and supportive environment.”

Students enroll in online school for a variety of reasons, including advanced learning, a bullying-free environment, and the ability to balance academic goals with extracurricular pursuits or medical needs. For many students, iQMN offers an education they wouldn’t otherwise be able to access.

iQMN state-credentialed teachers facilitate lessons during live, interactive online classes, allowing students to enjoy a safe learning environment anywhere with an internet connection. In addition to scheduled classes, teachers offer one-on-one instruction and support, online chat sessions, and family phone calls to build close partnerships in support of academic success.

Throughout the year, iQMN fosters a sense of community through in-person field trips and social outings and celebrates graduating seniors with a commencement ceremony in the spring. Virtual clubs and organizations also allow students to further explore shared interests together in an online setting.

iQMN is accepting enrollment applications for the 2019-2020 school year. To learn more about enrollment or for a schedule of upcoming information sessions, visit or download the K12 mobile app for iOS and Android devices.
