Moxion Power’s Battery Technology Named a 2023 TIME’s Best Invention

TIME’s Best Inventions list features 200 extraordinary innovations changing people’s lives.

RICHMOND, Calif.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–#goodenergy–Today, Moxion Power, a California-based manufacturer of clean, mobile battery energy storage system (BESS) technology, made TIME’s Best Invention list for their MP-75/600, the first product in a line-up of mobile BESS products that will electrify the temporary power industry. Every year, TIME recognizes products, software and services that are solving compelling problems in creative ways and are making the world better, smarter, or even a bit more fun.

“We’re absolutely thrilled to have the MP-75/600 selected as one of TIME’s Best Inventions for 2023. This recognition highlights the exceptional talent, persistent curiosity, and moxie of our team,” said Paul Huelskamp, CEO and co-founder at Moxion Power. “Moxion’s mobile BESS products are cleaner, more sustainable alternatives to generators for temporary power applications across industries such as construction, utilities, film, and live events. We hope this award encourages more companies to consider leveraging mobile BESS technology to decarbonize their operations and electrify our economy.”

Moxion’s products offer a cleaner, more sustainable, and 100 percent electric solution to industries that have historically relied on fossil-fuel-burning generators for temporary power.

To compile the list, TIME solicited nominations from TIME’s editors and correspondents around the world, and through an online application process, paying special attention to growing fields — such as AI, green energy, and sustainability. TIME then evaluated each contender on a number of key factors, including originality, efficacy, ambition, and impact.

Amazon, which has invested in the company and is currently leasing Moxion units on multiple sets at Amazon Studios, said the following: “Amazon is both an investor and customer of Moxion. We’ve been using Moxion units now for over a year on multiple Amazon Studios’ productions as an alternative to higher-pollution diesel fuel generators,” said Nick Ellis, Principal at the Amazon Climate Pledge Fund. “Hearing that Moxion’s MP-75/600 made the TIME’s Best Inventions list confirms our decision to use their innovative technology to help decarbonize our operations.”

“Earlier this year, Moxion Power announced the construction of a new gigafactory which will produce over 7GWh of battery capacity. We congratulate and are proud to be supporting Moxion in driving our local economy forward,” said the California Energy Commission Chair David Hochschild. “We need more successful investments like this if we’re going to achieve our net-zero goals by 2050.”

“Sunbelt Rentals is proud to witness the recognition of Moxion as a ‘best invention’. This innovative technology aligns with our commitment to providing the North American marketplace with high-performing, sustainable solutions,” said Jason Thompson, Senior Vice President of Power & HVAC, Pump Solutions at Sunbelt Rentals. “We have been an early investor and a collaborative customer of Moxion’s for over two years and look forward to future opportunities to partner together.”
