Edinburgh, – Exterity, a leading provider of IP video, digital signage and guest experience technologies, today announced that it has selected Intel’s innovative new IoT platform, the Intel Atom® processor E3900 series, formerly known as Apollo Lake, for its next generation HD and 4K hardware encoding platform.

Exterity Encoders stream live and pre-recorded low latency, HDCP-protected video and audio directly onto an IP network, creating channels from the output of a wide range of sources, including satellite TV set-top boxes, digital signage systems and computers. The Exterity Encoder range includes 4K UHD, HD and SD Encoders, each with their own audio-video encoding capabilities, suitable for a wide range of industry and video solution requirements.

Mike Allan, CTO at Exterity said, “We selected the Intel Apollo Lake technology due to its tight integration with their other video tools, including Media SDK, which are already used extensively in Exterity’s range of digital signage and hospitality solutions. The new processor enables us to provide a more flexible encoding platform for our customers, supporting a wider range of codecs versus traditional, single codec ASIC solutions. The high performance GPU also allows us to achieve 4K HEVC streams in a highly compact form factor.”

During ISE, at the Intel Integrated Systems Networking Event, taking place on Wednesday 6th February, Exterity will demonstrate its Intel-powered end-to-end digital signage solution, delivering direct to SmartTV.

Exterity will be showcasing their end-to-end IP video, digital signage and guest experience solutions at ISE 2019, 5-8 February 2019 in Amsterdam (Stand 10.K163).
