Capital Region International Airport Officially Cuts Ribbon on Capital Brewport, A Full-Service Restaurant Featuring Local Brews

Restaurant renovation is the first step in series of modernization
projects

LANSING, Mich.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–#flylansing–Kicking off a series of modernization projects to upgrade the passenger
experience, the Capital Region International Airport today
officially opened the Capital Brewport, a full-service restaurant
with a menu focused on fun, shareable dishes and featuring a rotating
craft beer menu consisting of Lansing-made beer.

“We are dedicated to a first-class flying experience,” said Capital
Region International Airport CEO Wayne Sieloff. “At the Capital
Brewport, our passengers will have the opportunity to relax in a modern,
fresh atmosphere while enjoying a bite and a brew. This is the first
major project of several to come, and we’re thrilled to officially
launch a new era of flying in Lansing.”

The Capital Brewport is inspired by Lansing Brewing Company, and will
feature LBC beers as well as beers from other local breweries. The
2,300-square-foot restaurant, which seats 90, features a contemporary
décor with several 55-inch flat-screen TVs for patrons and wall-to-wall,
9.4-foot-tall windows looking out onto runways. Located past the TSA
gate next to Gate 7, the Capital Brewport is open to passengers from 10
a.m. to 7 p.m., seven days a week; there will be extended hours during
Apple Vacation’s winter season.

The new restaurant is the first step in a series of planned upgrades at
the Capital Region International Airport, all focused on providing the
best experience for passengers and visitors. Upcoming construction
projects include a new coffee shop featuring locally roasted coffee,
updated amenities including business pods, and a nursing room for
mothers traveling with infants. The airport also plans to update its
gate holding areas to create spaces reflecting the pride that the
airport, whose code is LAN, takes in being the community airport for
mid-Michigan.

“We’re immensely proud to offer an improved experience to our diverse
and growing mid-Michigan community,” said Capital Region Airport
Authority Board Chairman John Shaski. “Traveling through
Lansing’s hometown airport should reflect our community’s many special
charms, and today’s launch of Capital Brewport is the first step on a
new and exciting journey for our region.”

C2AE provided the architectural designs. Trumble Group
executed the construction and development of the new space, which used
to be known as Spartan Pub. Pat Gillespie and his team at
Gillespie Group
provided collaborative consultation during the
renovation process. The restaurateur is EMA Enterprises. The Michigan
Department of Transportation Aeronautics
provided an air service
development grant to kick-start the $800,000 project.

The Capital Region International Airport is an important asset in the
mid-Michigan community, driving $1 billion annually in economic impact.
The airport welcomes over half a million visitors each year to connect
throughout the country and the world. In addition to providing corporate
and general aviation, the Capital Region International Airport moves
54.4 million pounds of cargo annually and is one of two airports in the
state with a federal inspection station. More than 7,300 jobs are
depending on the airport, which also features a 48,000-square-foot
warehouse and 582 acres of ready-to-develop land.
