Award-Winning Air Quality Mobile App Launches on Android and iOS

AgreeYa Solutions Tapped to Develop Innovative Mobile App that Serves Thousands of Users Per Day

FOLSOM, Calif.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–AgreeYa Solutions, a leader in software, solutions and services, recently partnered with the South Coast Air Quality Management District (South Coast AQMD) to introduce its user-friendly air quality mobile app on Android and iOS devices. South Coast AQMD had a vision to create a highly polished mobile app that is intuitive to users and serves as a one-stop-shop for public engagement. Leveraging its vast expertise and resources, AgreeYa’s team worked closely with South Coast AQMD to develop and release the mobile app earlier this year. Since its release, the app has garnered awards and acclaims from many parties, including Government Technology Magazine’s Technology Innovation Award. The South Coast AQMD app monitors air quality for more than 17 million residents living within some of the poorest air quality in the nation in Los Angeles, Orange, San Bernardino and Riverside counties.

“When the South Coast Air Quality Management District first approached us to assist in building this mobile app, we quickly assembled a team with expertise on mobile design, development and testing,” said Ajay Kaul, managing partner of AgreeYa Solutions. “Our team leveraged industry best practices to help build a highly intuitive and very responsive app which proved to be an instant success.”

Through careful analysis and creative engineering, AgreeYa teamed up with South Coast AQMD, to build the mobile app from the ground up, integrating real-time air quality forecasts for multiple cities in the South Coast Air Basin. The latest version also features detailed air quality insights, interactive air quality maps, configurable air quality notifications and health alerts. Unique among these features is instant access to the 1-800-CUT-SMOG line, allowing users to call in an air quality complaint, equipment breakdown or smoking vehicle with the touch of a button. The mobile app also includes an Esri GIS data-enabled interactive map that allows users to easily locate alternative fuel stations.

“Our mobile app is a great success story for our agency,” said Wayne Nastri, executive officer of South Coast AQMD. “With access to a plethora of important information including real-time air quality, this app is poised to become an invaluable tool for the communities we serve.”

The South Coast AQMD app currently serves iOS and Android users in 20 cities and draws its data from 38 EPA-approved and -regulated source receptor areas (SRAs), all of which are updated in real-time and can be accessed through the app. Users can tap each of these SRAs to receive detailed reports of the air quality in those regions, along with other metrics like specific pollutants present and the locations of alternative fuel stations.

Today, this app brings in more than 4,000 daily users. To download the South Coast AQMD mobile app, visit www.aqmd.gov/mobileapp.
