Vuzix Introduces Shrike Defense Display Platform and Ships Initial Evaluation Units

Configurable waveguide display gives defense and security customers a significant jumpstart for their custom wearable systems

ROCHESTER, N.Y., Sept. 29, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Vuzix® Corporation (NASDAQ: VUZI), a supplier of AI-powered smart glasses, waveguides for smart glasses and co-packaged optical data center interconnects, and related augmented reality technologies, today introduced Vuzix Shrike™, a configurable waveguide display platform for defense, security and first responder applications. Vuzix has begun shipping initial Shrike units to customers for evaluation and integration into custom wearable display systems.

Vuzix Shrike gives customers a highly configurable, working hardware solution with which to assess display performance, fit and system integration before defining a purpose-built product for its given customers. The platform combines full-color, 1280 × 720 imagery with a 40-degree field of view and a compact optical design. It is intended to support applications such as situational awareness, drone and unmanned ground vehicle operations, and the presentation of mission information in the wearer’s field of view.

The platform features a rated brightness of 3,000 nits to the eye with a 25 mm eye relief and a 14.3 × 14 mm eye box. Available features include electrochromic tinting to adjust the viewing experience and Vuzix Incognito™ technology to reduce outward-visible light from the display. It’s configurable as a monocular or binocular hardware solution, which allows customers to evaluate optical and integration choices as they develop requirements for their own wearable systems.
