UTM Healthcare Creates Android App for Remote Patient Monitoring

HUDSON, N.Y.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–#RPM–Mobile health technology company UTM Healthcare, LLC announced today that it has enhanced its remote patient monitoring (RPM) solution with an Android-compatible version, making it more accessible to providers and their patients.

The UTM:RPM software platform originally launched with an iOS-powered operating system compatible with an iPhone and iPad tablets. The new version renders the UTM:RPM software fully compatible with a wide range of mobile phones and tablet computers that utilize Android, the Google-developed mobile operating system.

“We are pleased to have achieved this technological milestone, which will make our technology available on the vast majority of smartphones using either iOS or Android,” said Seth Lachterman, partner and co-founder of UTM:Healthcare.

The UTM:RPM solution provides a connection between patients at home and their medical support team. Patients with congestive heart failure, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), diabetes or pneumonia, who have been discharged from the hospital and are at risk of readmission, can be provisioned with the UTM:RPM app on their smartphones through their healthcare providers. Data is collected by patients through Bluetooth-enabled biometric devices, such as digital blood pressure gauges and pulse oximeters, and transmitted securely to physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, nurses or case managers.

In addition to hospitals, UTM:RPM has been designed for use in settings such as skilled nursing facilities, assisted living residences, senior housing communities and physician practices, including telemedicine specialists.

Dr. Janine Darby, owner and operator of Lifestyle Changes, LLC, a virtual medical practice in Audubon, Pa., uses the UTM:RPM solution to monitor patients enrolled in her comprehensive weight management program.

“UTM’s technology has helped me keep a closer eye on my patients by holding them accountable during their weight loss journey,” said Dr. Darby. “In addition, I am able to monitor their blood pressure so that it stays within a healthy, target range. This is a perfect example of how innovation improves healthcare. Now that it will be available for Android smartphones, all patients will have the opportunity to use UTM’s technology.”

Patients, in consultation with their healthcare provider, can download the UTM:RPM app from the Google Play store via the following link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.utm.rpm
