Three MFG Chemical Plants Win ‘Award of Excellence’ for Workplace Safety

DALTON, Ga.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–MFG Chemical, a leader in specialty and custom chemical manufacturing, has received three ‘Awards of Excellence’ for workplace safety at each of its three Dalton, Georgia area plants, from the State of Georgia’s Department of Labor.

In order to qualify for this Award, a location or facility must have achieved at least 250 workdays during the previous calendar year with no days away from work due to workplace injuries or illnesses.

According to MFG Chemical CEO Keith Arnold, “Over the past five years, MFG has worked diligently to improve performance in workplace safety. Companywide, MFG Chemical has not experienced a single lost time incident during the past five years and significantly outperforms the industry average for injury frequency and severity. Most importantly, we know that our employees are going home safely to enjoy the other aspects of their lives that bring them fulfillment.”

MFG Chemical Director of EHS&S Joe Welch added, “This level of performance does not come easy. It starts with ownership and leadership commitment to continuous improvement in EHS&S. All departments and levels of the organization must work hard to identify risk and find ways to mitigate it. MFG has a culture of learning and sharing knowledge. Best practices are sought out and maintained.”

An official statement from Georgia Department of Labor Commissioner Mark Butler declared, “The Georgia Department of Labor sponsors the annual awards program to promote safe, healthy work environments in Georgia, and recognize and honor the employers and employees who make them a reality.”
