NEW YORK–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Epic League, a company specializing in Online RPG and blockchain ecosystem, has raised $1 million in its first seed funding round. Investors included WeMade, YGGSEA, GBIC (Global Blockchain Innovative Capital), IVC (Infinity Ventures Crypto), Thomas Vu from Moon Holdings, and industry leading seed investors. According to Epic League, they are about to finish the alpha phase of Dark Throne, the first game for their ecosystem, and will soon give people a sneak-peek.
Epic League team consists of top-tier game developers who created global top games such as Lineage 2M, Marvel Future Revolution, Marvel Future Fight, and BTS Universe Story and blockchain experts. Ji-hyung Lee, a cover artist for Marvel and DC Comics, participated as Art Director. Also, Young-hoon Baek, a former Netmarble COO, and Thomas Vu, a former Head of Creative and current advisor to Sandbox, participated as advisors.
Evan Spytma, CEO of YGGSEA said, “We were given early access to play Dark Throne, the first game of Epic League. Although it was still in a pre-alpha stage, it received a warm reception from our team and truly has the potential of becoming “epic”. We also love how Epic League supports the YGGSEA community by offering a guild friendly management system through the Epic League Platform. Dark Throne is a must play in 2022.”
Thomas Vu, former Riot Games Head of Creative and current advisor of Sandbox, said “As a game-maker for over two decades, I am seeing more and more game developers move into the blockchain. Epic League team is one of the most stacked teams that I’ve encountered coming into this space, with an average of over 15+ years of game development experience and the number of global hits that they’ve produced.”
Epic League may seem to aim high. Two games are to be released in 2022. And the first game of two, Dark Throne, and the platform that supports its ecosystem will be launched in the first half of this year.
“The whole ecosystem we are building is entirely for our game players and community,” said Jay Kim, Executive Director of Epic League “By supplying well-made games, and providing an innovative and stable platform that supports players, guild managers and community managers, we would like to lead the P2E industry.”
YGGSEA, YGG’s first sub-DAO, which is already growing rapidly in the South East Asia region, seemed to have noticed the potential of the Epic League along with WeMade, GBIC, IVC, and other seed investors. This alone seems to be worth watching their progress.
