NEW YORK–(BUSINESS WIRE)–The Commons Project Foundation (The Commons Project or ‘TCP’) announces the appointment of Zhenya Lindgardt as the new Chief Executive Officer. With two decades of experience in driving business strategy and innovating new models across industries, including healthcare and consumer technology, Lindgardt will lead the organization in its next phase of growth. Her role will focus on enabling TCP to rapidly scale its digital platforms and services, delivering on TCP’s mission of unlocking the full potential of technology and data to improve health outcomes for all.
Paul Meyer, the non-profit’s founding CEO will step into the role of Executive Founder and President, focusing on organizational governance and building The Commons Project’s global coalition of public and private partners.
From her previous role driving Uber’s corporate incubator, Lindgardt brings to TCP invaluable skills in incubating and scaling early stage businesses, and setting up robust customer engagement programs. Her deep understanding of working with two-sided marketplaces and platform businesses will be pivotal in expanding the scale and reach of TCP’s ecosystem.
“The Commons Project is empowering individuals with access to and control of their own health data using technology that respects privacy and enhances trust. We now access most of our services from our mobile phones, often without fully understanding the level of privacy or protection of our personal data. I am honored to join a purpose-driven organization that privileges health service access, privacy and trust,” said Zhenya Lindgardt, incoming Chief Executive Officer of TCP. “I believe that as TCP expands applications of portable and tamper-proof personal data, the ecosystem of issuers and verifiers of this data will grow and expand with us – deepening our impact globally. ”
“At this critical inflection point for The Commons Project, Zhenya is the right leader to build out our organization and infrastructure and expand the scale and reach of our products and services across the globe in furtherance of our mission,” said Paul Meyer, Executive Founder and President of The Commons Project.
“The Commons Project Foundation has quickly become a leader in revolutionizing the ecosystem of personal health data,” said Jen Zhu Scott, Executive Chair of The Commons Project. “Having launched several initiatives that are now adopted around the world including verification services for vaccine certifications to enable safe border reopening around the world, Zhenya’s proven experience and sector leadership will ensure we harness the power and potential of technology for the common good, and attract the world-class talent necessary for our vision.”
In less than three years, The Commons Project has built and launched a remarkable suite of digital products and services, many to address the collective need for the safe sharing of health records, verification of vaccination information and test results in the wake of the COVID-19 global pandemic.
These include:
- CommonHealthTM, a service empowering Android users to collect, manage and share their health data
- CommonPassTM, a mobile app designed to provide global travelers with a secure and verifiable way to document their health status as they cross borders
- SMART Health Card Verifier App, a verification tool that scans SMART Health Card QR codes to check the validity of an individual’s vaccination record
- CommonTrust NetworkTM, a global registry of trusted SMART Health Cards issuers, including governments, health systems, testing providers, vaccination providers, and public health registries.
The Commons Project also co-leads VCI, a voluntary coalition of more than 900 public and private stakeholders, including Apple, Microsoft and MITRE, committed to empowering individuals with access to a trustworthy and verifiable copy of their vaccination records in digital or paper form using open, interoperable standards. The group led the development of the SMART Health Card Framework, which is currently being rolled out nationwide by national pharmacies, leading health systems, state governments and more.
