Stanley Serves as Chief Medical Officer and Senior Vice President for the Breakthrough Virtual Health Company
LAS VEGAS–(BUSINESS WIRE)–The 2023 Comp Laude® Awards announced Tuesday that Gerry Stanley, M.D. is being honored as Doctor of the Year. The news came as part of a virtual ceremony, honoring Stanley for his work revolutionizing the way that the workers’ compensation system recognizes, treats and pays for the care of patients who are languishing because of chronic pain and related behavioral issues.
Dr. Stanley was selected for his thought leadership and dedication to treating injured workers with an entirely new approach to pain management, without drugs or unnecessary surgery. As Chief Medical Officer and Senior Vice President for Harvard MedTech, he oversees patient care and collaborates with treating physicians on treatment for injured workers with Vx® Therapy. This breakthrough approach combines immersive virtual reality experiences with behavioral coaching to bring long-term relief for patients suffering from trauma-related symptoms, such as chronic pain, anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and sleep disorders.
He is a fierce advocate for patients stuck in a cycle of chronic pain and medication use, without relief, and experiencing anxiety and depression as they see their lives slipping away from them. His passion is restoring these patients to health and giving them back their lives.
“Harvard MedTech is dedicated to freeing patients from the cycle of chronic pain, depression, and PTSD, without the use of debilitating drugs or unnecessary surgery,” said Shan Padda, CEO, Harvard MedTech. “Gerry Stanley has been a tireless innovator and evangelist for this cause since our company was founded. Our dedicated teams at HMT continue to create positive impacts on the patients and customers we serve. People who had given up hope of having functional, pain-free lives are finding their way to health.”
Dr. Stanley’s research has been published in a number of studies, including the peer-reviewed journal, Pain & Therapy, and The Journal of Neurology: Spine. Results from Vx® Therapy’s combination of virtual reality and behavioral therapy were recently announced at the Congress of Neurological Surgeons, where this therapy was cited as a breakthrough alternative to treating pain and psychosocial complications for injured workers and patients experiencing chronic pain.
Dr. Stanley’s award was announced during a virtual ceremony held on Comp Laude’s website on November 14th, in celebration of the shining stars of the workers’ compensation industry.
