Fox Meadow Films to Produce Gay Male Love Story Set in the World of TV Singing Competitions

NEW YORK–(BUSINESS WIRE)–lt;a href=”https://twitter.com/hashtag/FoxMeadowFilms?src=hash” target=”_blank”gt;#FoxMeadowFilmslt;/agt;–New York-based Fox Meadow Films has optioned a pitch and treatment from
writer/producer Brad Hennig called Idolized, a gay love story set
in the world of national TV singing competitions.

Idolized is about a black former gang member who enters an
American Idol type singing competition to escape his gang roots and
stigma of being gay in his community. During the competition, he falls
in love with his main rival competitor, an older, white, former
Christian music singer trying to come out of the closet and make it as a
pop star. As the show pits the two against each other, circumstances
force the unlikely lovers to choose between each other and winning the
competition.

Hennig will pen the script. Fox Meadows’ award-winning indie film
writer/director/producer, Caytha Jentis, will direct and produce with
Hennig.

Jentis’ credits include writing, directing and producing the indie
features Bad Parents (HBO), starring Janeane Garofolo and Kristen
Johnson; And Then Came Love (Warner Bros), starring Vanessa
Williams and Anna Camp; and The One, a gay love story for TLA
Releasing. Episodically, Fox Meadow Films produced The Other F Word
(Amazon/The Girlfriend), a comedy starring Judy Gold, Steve
Guttenberg, Gilbert Gottfried and Alysia Reiner.

Hennig wrote and produced comedy/drama feature film Stage Mother
set in the San Francisco drag scene, which is currently in
post-production and stars Jacki Weaver, Lucy Liu, and Adrian Grenier. He
also wrote and produced the feature film The Hot Flashes, which
starred Brooke Shields, Wanda Sykes and Virginia Madsen.
