Embarcadero Extends FireMonkey® Cross-Platform Framework to Create GUI Applications for Linux

Add-On Component Leverages Exclusive OEM Agreement with FMX Linux

AUSTIN, Texas–(BUSINESS WIRE)–#GUIEmbarcadero (a division of Idera, Inc.), a provider of cross-platform application developer productivity tools, today announced a partnership with FMX Linux to extend RAD Studio’s (Delphi Edition) FireMonkey® cross-platform GUI framework to Linux clients.

FireMonkey is the multi-device app development and runtime framework behind RAD Studio, Delphi, and C++Builder. It is designed to help teams build multi-device, true-native apps for desktop and mobile platforms including Windows, OS X, iOS, Android — and now Linux — from a single codebase, and to get them to app stores and enterprises faster.

The new FireMonkey Linux (FMX) client add-on will be available for Delphi Enterprise and Architect, as well as RAD Studio Enterprise and Architect editions, via the RAD Studio GetIt package manager.

“FireMonkey applications already connect to the most popular databases, web and cloud services, internet protocols and mobile devices — giving users incredible selection and flexibility for both clients and servers,” said Sarina DuPont, head of product, Developer Tools at Embarcadero. “Adding FMX Linux support to the product continues our commitment to expand our product scope and collaborate with our community to promote cross-platform application development and innovation.”

FireMonkey makes it easy to build compiled, true-native apps that expose the full range of device capabilities and performance in underlying devices with native CPU performance and GPU powered visuals on PCs, tablets and mobile devices.

New features available through the FMX Linux add-on include:

● Ability to rebuild FireMonkey UI applications for Linux

● Full support of FMX components for the Linux platform, including listviews, grids, and other advanced components

● Ready-to-use FMX GUI styles available on Linux, matching other platforms

● RAD Studio features such as Live Bindings to map database query data to the UI
