MIAMI, JUNE 15, 2026 ― For Producer Diego Contento, music is about emotion, experimentation, and finding the perfect balance between technical precision and creative instinct. Working from his Miami-based studio, Contento is a sought-after name in Latin pop production, collaborating with artists such as Pedro Capó, Santiago Cruz, and Lasso. Even after years of working with world-class gear and GRAMMY®-nominated projects, Contento still believes the right studio tools can completely reshape the creative process. That is exactly what happened when he added KRK Kreate 5 Latte Studio Monitors to his workflow.
Originally from Bogotá, Colombia, Contento’s musical journey started early. As a teenager, he played in a band with friends and spent countless hours recording demos and experimenting with sounds. While many young musicians focused on performing, he found himself fascinated by what happened behind the glass. “I loved creating in the studio and experimenting with the recording process,” he says. “That’s when I knew I wanted to work in production.”
After studying production at Berklee College of Music in Boston, Contento relocated to Miami in 2015 to pursue opportunities in the Latin music industry. There, he worked under legendary producer George Noriega, whose credits include Shakira, Ricky Martin, and Maná. The experience became a turning point in Contento’s career. “George became a mentor to me,” he explains. “He opened a lot of doors and really taught me how sessions work at the highest level.”
Those years helped shape Contento’s collaborative style and eventually led him to launch his independent career during the pandemic. Since that time, he has built a reputation for crafting emotionally driven productions with polished sonic detail, something that makes accurate monitoring essential.
While he was setting up a new studio space, Gibson’s Entertainment Relations Director Cesar Acevedo connected with Contento, who welcomed the opportunity to try something new. Though familiar with KRK ROKIT monitors from other studios, the Kreate Series marked Contento’s first personal experience using KRK speakers in his own environment. “They’ve been a great tool because they give me another color,” he says. “I’ve worked with another brand of monitors for years, but the KRKs provide a very strong reference point for translation.”
For Contento, translation is everything. His productions must sound equally compelling whether played through a car stereo, a home listening setup, or professional studio monitors. The KRK Kreate 5 monitors quickly became an important part of that process.
“I was surprised by the low end,” he explains. “For their size, the KRK Kreates have an amazing amount of body and bass response, but they also maintain really nice top-end definition. That balance allows me to identify details in a mix more efficiently before leaving the studio to test tracks elsewhere. Instead of relying solely on listening in the car, the KRKs provide an additional perspective directly from my workspace. They help me understand how the average listener is going to hear the music; that’s incredibly useful.”
Contento also appreciates the versatility the Kreate monitors bring to collaborative sessions. One standout feature has been Bluetooth® connectivity, a capability rarely associated with professional studio monitors. “It’s actually become one of my favorite features,” he says. “Clients can quickly play demos from their phones, or we can connect a turntable instantly without changing cables. It’s super practical. I also haven’t noticed any degradation in sound quality. That really surprised me in a good way.”
Beyond performance, the monitors complement the aesthetic of his creative space. Unlike darker, LED-heavy studio designs, Contento prefers bright, natural environments that feel warm and inviting. “I like studios to feel organic,” he explains. “The Kreate Latte monitors look beautiful in the room. They match the vibe perfectly.”
As Contento continues working on new projects, including his third album with Pedro Capó, the KRK Kreate monitors have already secured a permanent place in his studio setup. “They’ve been an amazing addition,” he says. “Having multiple references changes everything when you’re trying to make music translate everywhere.”
