Deep Instinct created a new, embedded OS solution for Kings to detect
and prevent malware using deep learning-based cybersecurity across its
U.S. locations
NEW YORK–(BUSINESS WIRE)–As point-of-sale (POS) attacks continue to rack up millions of dollars
in damages for the retail industry, Deep
Instinct announced that it was chosen by Kings
Food Markets to take the proactive steps necessary to protect the
retailer’s complex digital infrastructure and POS systems across more
than 24 grocery locations across the United States. As the first company
to apply deep learning to cybersecurity, Deep Instinct will provide
Kings Food Markets with multiple layers of unparallel protection – from
the servers down to the registers – to detect and prevent known and
unknown malware in real time, something that their former security
systems simply couldn’t do.
The retail industry continues to be a top target for cyberattacks, which
is why Deep Instinct worked closely with Kings to develop a unique
solution to keep shoppers’ credit card information and transactions
safe. Once deployed in a test environment, the results showed that the
servers running in a preventative state blocked malicious, java-based
executable malware on all of Kings POS systems, which were previously
missed by other security tools. Had the malware gone undetected, Kings
would have seen a significant spike in CPU usage that could have shut
down their POS systems nationwide and resulted in a loss of business and
customer trust.
“We know that the security threat landscape is constantly evolving, and
we wanted a reliable solution to ensure customer data was protected
every step of the way in the purchase process,” said Bruno Mariano,
director of technical support and services at Kings Food Markets. “Deep
Instinct checked all the right boxes and proved itself as the only
technology capable of adapting to our unique environment, without
disrupting our everyday business operations. The technology has
surpassed our expectations, ensuring our customers remain safe and
helped mitigate risks for attacks we might not even be aware of. We
would recommend every retailer work with a deep learning-based model for
cybersecurity if they want to protect their customers and safeguard
their assets against attack.”
Deep Instinct’s technology is location agnostic and protected Kings’
servers as well as the company’s POS systems embedded with Windows OS.
Deep Instinct leverages the power of deep learning’s predictive
capabilities to create the ultimate zero-time threat prevention platform
and network involving multi-layer protection across all endpoints,
servers, mobile devices and operation systems (Windows, macOS, Android,
iOS and ChromeOS) with unmatched accuracy. The deep learning-based model
can obtain a much higher detection rate and a much lower false positive
rate for new, previously unseen files, when compared with the best
traditional machine learning solutions available.
“Unknown malware can be often lie dormant on seemingly benign endpoints
like registers, just waiting for its next victim. But unlike traditional
security solutions, Deep Instinct’s technology can not only locate it
and stop it, it can prevent the malware from ever inflicting any
damage,” said Guy Caspi, CEO at Deep Instinct. “Our innovative approach
to cybersecurity is highly relevant to Kings and the retail industry
overall to best protect the customer. We prevent what others can’t find.
And as the pace of attacks gets faster, ours is the only solution
capable of keeping up.”
In a recent test from
SE Labs’ independent threat prevention evaluation lab, Deep
Instinct’s D-Client (v2.2.1.5), a deep learning-based malware detection
and prevention engine, achieved a 100% prevention rate and zero
false-positives when detecting and blocking known and unknown cyber
threats, including file-based and file-less attacks. The results further
highlight Deep Instinct’s ability to provide a wide range of detection
and threat blocking capabilities without interfering with system
performance.

About Deep Instinct
Deep Instinct is the first company to apply end-to-end deep learning to
cybersecurity. Deep learning is inspired by the brain’s ability to
learn. Once a brain learns to identify an object, its identification
becomes second nature. Similarly, as Deep Instinct’s artificial deep
neural network brain learns to prevent any type of cyber threat, its
prediction capabilities become instinctive. As a result, any kind of
malware, known and new, first-seen malware, zero-days, ransomware and
APT attacks from any kind are predicted and prevented in zero-time with
unmatched accuracy and speed anywhere in the enterprise – Network, EPP,
Mobile – enabling a multi layered protection. To learn more, visit: http://www.deepinstinct.com.
