DC Students Begin New School Year in the Online Classroom

WASHINGTON–(BUSINESS WIRE)–FPCSO, a tuition-free public school that serves kindergarteners through 8th graders, will welcome students for the upcoming 2019-2020 school year on August 26th.

By combining personalized online instruction, a hands-on curriculum, and the support of highly qualified Washington, D.C. certified teachers, FPCSO helps students discover and reach their full potential.

“At FPCSO, we want each and every student to be excited about the learning process,” said FPCSO Head of School John “Tracy” Sloane. “That’s why we provide so many opportunities for them to succeed and grow.”

Students who enroll at FPCSO follow an academic program that includes engaging online lessons coupled with age-appropriate instructional materials and hands-on tools and resources – all of which are shipped directly to each student’s home. The rigorous curriculum includes courses in language arts/English, math, science, history, world languages, art and music. Students can also choose to participate in dozens of extracurricular activities and clubs that cover a wide variety of interests.

“In online school, the focus is 100% on learning,” said FPCSO homeroom teacher Suzanne Conway. “We meet each student at their individual zone of proficiency and move them forward in their academic journey.”

Many families and students are choosing online school because it provides an alternative to traditional brick-and-mortar education. Athletes, advanced learners, and all types of students can balance a full academic load along with extracurricular pursuits or any other specialized needs.

“I enjoy the relationships I build with families while partnering with them in their children’s education,” said FPCSO teacher Ann Lyons. “I’m also proud that our unique school offers flexibility and rigor at each student’s learning level.”

Interested students and families are encouraged to attend online information sessions hosted by FPCSO. To learn more, visit fpcso.k12.com. or download the K12 enrollment app for iOS and Android devices.
