Nationally syndicated TV and radio personality Don Cheto of KBUE-FM is honored with Proclamation of “Don Cheto Day” for his work in support of Latino immigrant community
BURBANK, Calif.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–#HispanicMedia–LBI Media, Inc., announced today that its #1 radio and TV personality Don Cheto, of the nationally syndicated “Don Cheto Al Aire” morning radio show was honored by Los Angeles City officials with a City Proclamation of “Don Cheto Day.”
Recognized as one of the country’s leading voices in Spanish-language radio and television, Don Cheto, a whimsical and rural middle aged character from the state of Michoacan, Mexico has been a staple of Spanish-language radio in Southern California for the past 15 years. He is brought to life every day on national radio airwaves and on EstrellaTV’s hit show “Tengo Talento, Mucho Talento,” by veteran radio personality Juan Carlos Razo.
Don Cheto has been a long standing voice and advocate of the Latino immigrant community not only in Southern California, but across the United States via his popular and highly rated morning drive show Don Cheto Al Aire, which is syndicated nationally from KBUE-FM La Que Buena Radio station in Burbank, California.
“We are extremely proud to have Don Cheto as an essential member of our LBI Media family. His unique sense of humor and cultural connection to the U.S. Latino population is second to none. His standing as a leading voice in immigration advocacy and his prowess in addressing and bringing attention to pressing issues that affect the Latino community using his multimedia platforms is the essence of LBI Media’s new community first approach,” stated Peter Markham, Chief Executive Officer, LBI Media, Inc.
City Councilman Jose Huizar, 14th District, presented Don Cheto with a Proclamation declaring December 4 as “Don Cheto Day” at the Los Angeles City Council’s Chamber and celebrated his contributions to the city’s Latino immigrant population and his work in providing education and resources via his morning radio show, which this year celebrates 15 years of uninterrupted programming on KBUE-FM’s La Que Buena Radio.
“I am honored to receive this recognition from the City of Los Angeles, a city that my family and I call home and where I have been fortunate enough to do what I love. Don Cheto is the voice of our hard working Latino community and is also a representation of our cultural heritage and pride. Though he’s left his beloved Mexico, he has found a way to perfectly balance and fuse his life experience in the U.S. with his cultural values from his small hometown in Mexico. Don Cheto is the face and voice of the new American Latino and I am proud to bring him to life every day and to be of service to my community,” stated Razo.
“Don Cheto Al Aire” revamped its production team and format in 2016, and added two new sidekicks: Gisselle Bravo and El Chino, along with Said Garcia Solis, the show’s producer. These changes have contributed to the morning show’s steady growth in ratings and popularity. “Don Cheto Al Aire” is a family friendly radio show with universal appeal among Hispanics of all ages, genders and lifestyles. The show covers a gamut of topics that range from news headlines, current events to human interest stories, games and contests, all done in a humorous and culturally relevant format.
