CenterCal Announces New Initiatives for Bay Street Emeryville

New Owners to Focus on Community Alignment, Engagement, Physical Upgrades

EMERYVILLE, Calif.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Since taking ownership of Bay Street Emeryville this past spring, CenterCal has been committed to transforming the center into a community-centric gathering place, a welcoming destination for all. As part of that commitment, CenterCal has made the safety and security of guests and tenants a top priority and as such, has announced several key initiatives designed to elevate the guest experience.

In order to implement these changes, Allied Universal will be taking over security operations, with Joshua Cutler at the helm as Bay Street Emeryville’s new security director. Allied is an industry leader in shopping center security and Josh has 20 years of flagship retail shopping center experience. Allied will be especially focused on increasing their presence throughout the center, so that guests can readily find assistance if needed.

Moving forward, Bay Street Emeryville is pleased to announce a coordinated partnership with the Emeryville Police Department to ensure alignment between the center and the greater Emeryville community with regard to public safety. Bay Street will also supplement on-site security with off-duty officers as needed.

“By working in partnership with the Emeryville Police Department, as well as with Allied Universal we look forward to creating a welcoming and safe center for the greater Emeryville community to enjoy,” said Izamar Hook, General Manager of Bay Street Emeryville.

In addition to strategic shifts, Bay Street Emeryville will be implementing a number of physical upgrades throughout the property designed to increase awareness and safety. These additional improvements include an upgraded communications system throughout the property; high-visibility, neon uniforms for all security patrols; and enhancements to the parking deck which includes restriping, repainting, and the addition of LED lighting throughout.

These initiatives underscore the overall commitment of CenterCal to curating a welcoming destination for the Emeryville community. CenterCal has previously announced major redevelopment plans for the center to be completed by 2023.
