Assimilate SCRATCH 9.1 Enables End-to-end 8K Workflows with Support for AJA KONA 5; Gains AJA Io 4K Plus Compatibility

Delivers Perfect Dailies and Finishing Workflow for RED 8K Footage

AUGUST 20, 2019 – ASSIMILATE – San Jose, CA – Assimilate today announced that Scratch 9.1 now supports AJA KONA 5 audio and video I/O cards, allowing digital-cinema creators to tap the finishing solution with KONA 5 to output 8K 60p video via 12G-SDI. The company simultaneously announced Scratch 9.1 support for AJA’s Io 4K Plus I/O box with Thunderbolt™ 3 connectivity, which joins other Scratch 9.1-compatible AJA solutions T-TAP®, Io 4K, KONA 1 and KONA 4.

Scratch support for KONA 5 enables the perfect dailies and finishing workflow for RED 8K footage. Scratch handles the decoding and deBayering of 8K RED RAW in real-time at full resolution and can now natively output 8K over SDI through KONA 5, facilitating a full end-to-end 8K workflow.

“Assimilate and AJA have worked together for many years, bringing leading edge solutions to the digital-cinema market. This partnership continues with Scratch 9.1 supporting AJA’s flagship products for desktop and mobile I/O,” said Jeff Edson, CEO at Assimilate. “The performance and output quality of both the KONA 5 and Io 4K Plus are unparalleled in our industry and we’re proud to offer our users the highest quality 8K SDI monitoring possible.”

“Assimilate’s Scratch is a robust finishing solution tapped by a number of professionals across the media and entertainment industry, so we’re pleased to be working with the Assimilate team to ensure interoperability between Scratch and AJA tools. The partnership is an extension of our commitment to ensure AJA customers are able to work with their preferred toolsets,” shared Nick Rashby, President, AJA Video Systems.
