LITTLE ROCK, Ark.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Public and private organizations from across the country are coming
together as members of the Great
Outdoors Month® Council to help all Americans Escape the Indoors
and celebrate the educational, economic, health, and social benefits of
fun outdoors.
Governor Asa Hutchinson recently signed a proclamation declaring June
Great Outdoors Month for the state of Arkansas. To support the statewide
and national celebration of the great outdoors, the Arkansas Game and
Fish Commission (AGFC) and the City of Eureka Springs remind people that
they can access convenient online services that make enjoying the
outdoors even easier.
“Arkansas has so many wonderful outdoor experiences for people of all
ages to enjoy,” said Spencer Griffith, AGFC Marketing Coordinator.
“Every month, but especially in June during Great Outdoors Month, we
encourage people to get outside and enjoy all of the recreational sites
and activities our state has to offer. The AGFC mobile app is just one
way we are enhancing the outdoor experience.”
AGFC partnered with the Information Network of Arkansas (INA) to build
the new mobile app, which features an updated, clean look that makes it
easy for Arkansas hunters, anglers, and outdoor enthusiasts to store
digital fishing and hunting licenses, see regulations, read fishing
reports, verify fish breeds, locate trails, quickly check hunted game
while online or offline in the field, collect and share prized hunting
“trophies,” and much more. The app is available both through the Apple
App store and Google
Play store.
“The month of June is the perfect time to celebrate Great Outdoors Month
and enjoy all that Arkansas has to offer,” said Ken “Smitty” Smith,
Eureka Springs Transit Director. “Visitors to Historic Eureka Springs
can purchase tram tour tickets with just a few taps on their smartphone,
which saves time, avoids overcrowding, and gives our guests a better
travel experience.”
The City of Eureka Springs partnered with INA to offer travelers
convenient, secure electronic tickets to the city’s Historic Tram Tours
through YourPassNow.
Eureka Springs is the first city in the nation to join a growing list of
U.S. public lands that offer digital access through YourPassNow. Tickets
purchased at ar.gov/eurekatram
can be downloaded or stored to an electronic wallet for immediate and
future use, or emailed for those who want to print their pass.
“When people plan an outdoor activity, they don’t want to stand in long
lines or make a special trip to get any required permits or licenses,”
said Bob Sanders, INA General Manager. “We are proud to partner with
AGFC to offer the redesigned mobile app and the City of Eureka Springs
to offer tram tour tickets through YourPassNow, which both help people
be compliant with all requirements while being able to quickly enjoy
their outdoor activities.”
Great Outdoors Month is championed by the Outdoor Recreation Roundtable,
and began as Great Outdoors Week under President Clinton in 1998. Today
it has grown significantly under the Trump, Obama and Bush
administrations into a month-long celebration of the outdoors and all
the healthful, social and economic benefits it brings.
