SIGGRAPH 2019: Kingston Digital Turns Graphics Workstation into 8K Dreamstation
- Real-Time Raw 4K and 8K Workflows for Visual Effects Industry
LOS ANGELES & FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Kingston Digital, Inc., the Flash memory affiliate of Kingston Technology Company, Inc., a world leader in memory products and technology solutions, opens the SIGGRAPH 2019 (booth #633) conference and expo by demonstrating how visual effects professionals can use 8K raw footage for real-time review, ingesting, editing, VFX and distribution. The custom systems highlight how editors can reduce time from camera or rendering stations to postproduction, all while saving thousands in final production costs.
“The VFX industry is begging for systems that provide better performance and higher quality rendering, for a fraction of the cost,” said Mark Noland, enterprise SSD field applications engineer, Kingston. “While a few computer manufacturers are creating high-end systems that can run upwards of $40,000 USD, our demonstrations prove how one could build a competitive platform for less money while still delivering beautiful designs, richer entertainment and interactive experiences. Today’s VFX systems no longer have to be considered workstations ― but rather ‘dreamstations’ that can dramatically improve how artists, designers, editors and creators produce visually stunning content, never before imagined.”
Kingston will showcase three systems that feature a variety of SSDs and guaranteed compatible memory solutions for Lenovo brand server and client systems. First, the upcoming Kingston DC1000M U.2 NVMe PCIe SSD, and the recently released data center DC500R and DC500M SATA SSDs, will demonstrate real-time workflows of editing raw RED 8K and 4K content to produce in Adobe® Premiere Pro. The other two systems feature Kingston’s client drive, the KC2000 NVMe PCIe SSD and a preview of the consumer A2000 NVMe PCIe SSD, launching next week. The systems also show rendering across the NVIDIA® Quadro RTX™ 8000 GPU, giving VFX artists and designers real examples of how to create cinematic-quality interactive experiences.
