South Carolina Students Begin New School Year in the Online Classroom

GREENVILLE, S.C.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Cyber Academy of South Carolina (CASC), an online public school that serves kindergarteners through 12th graders, will welcome students for the upcoming 2019-2020 school year on August 21st.

Through the school’s Destinations Career program, students can pair a solid academic foundation with hands-on learning experiences in growing career fields like information technology (IT), business, and much more. Even if a student doesn’t know exactly what they want to do, career readiness programs help open a world of what’s possible.

In addition to a high school diploma, many CASC students can earn college credits or work toward industry certifications. Some can even earn an associate’s degree while they’re still in high school. Many programs also offer employment counseling, and access to real-work experience like internships and apprenticeships.

In addition to career readiness courses, CASC students have access to a robust online curriculum and attend live virtual classes taught by state-licensed teachers. Students are offered a full course load in the core subjects of math, science, English language arts, history, art and music. Electives include world languages, as well as high school honors and Advanced Placement® courses. Teachers regularly communicate with students and their families via email, phone and during one-on-one meetings online.

“At CASC, we take great pride in helping students grow,” said CASC Head of School David Crook. “We strive to instill confidence in each and every student and give them the tools they need to succeed.”

Many families and students are choosing online school because it provides an alternative to traditional brick-and-mortar education. Athletes, advanced learners, and all types of students can balance a full academic load along with extracurricular pursuits or any other specialized needs.

“I couldn’t be more excited about the beginning of the school year,” said CASC middle school teacher Abigail Davis. “Through new programs and great new course content, I’m looking forward to opening up new doors to learning for my students.”

Outside of the virtual classroom, CASC offers online student clubs and in-person activities such as field trips, community service opportunities and social gatherings, including an annual in-person prom, and graduation ceremony for seniors.

Interested students and families are encouraged to attend online information sessions hosted by CASC. To learn more, visit casc.k12.com. or download the K12 enrollment app for iOS and Android devices.
