PRINEVILLE, Ore.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–#backtoschool–Students at Cascade Virtual Academy (CVA), an online public charter school, will begin the 2019-2020 school year on September 3 simply by turning on their computers. Authorized by Mitchell School District, CVA is a public school at home option available tuition-free to students in kindergarten through eighth grade across Oregon.

“The team at Cascade Virtual Academy is excited to welcome students and their families for the 2019-2020 school year,” said 4th-5th grade teacher Lily Reishman. “We’re excited to continue to build our relationships with students to foster growth and ensure their academic and personal success.”

CVA provides families and students an alternative to traditional brick-and-mortar education. Students enroll in online school for a variety of reasons, including advanced learning, a bullying-free environment, and the ability to balance academic goals with extracurricular pursuits or medical needs. Combining innovative technology with a rigorous curriculum led by state-certified teachers, CVA provides each student with a personalized learning experience.

Students study the core subjects of English/language arts, math, science and history, as well as some electives. CVA’s dedicated teachers facilitate lessons during live, interactive online classes, allowing students to enjoy a safe learning environment anywhere with an Internet connection.

In addition to scheduled online classes, teachers offer one-on-one instruction and support, online chat sessions, and family phone calls to build close partnerships in support of academic success. Students complete schoolwork using laptops and educational materials that are shipped to their homes for the start of the school year.

Throughout the year CVA fosters a sense of community through in-person field trips and social outings. Virtual clubs and organizations also allow students to further explore shared interests together in an online setting.

CVA is accepting enrollment applications for the 2019-2020 school year. To learn more about enrollment or for a schedule of upcoming events, visit cva.k12.com or download the K12 mobile app for iOS and Android devices.
