Wiggin Promotes Three to Partnership

LONDON – Media, technology and IP law firm Wiggin LLP today announced it is promoting Chris Hammond (Film & TV), Alex Lea (Film & TV) and Jason Fisher (Corporate) to the partnership. This follows four recent internal partner promotions, lateral hires and a merger bringing the partnership from 28 in January 2017 to 38 from 1 April 2018.

John Banister, CEO of Wiggin said: “We are delighted to reward these three individuals who have contributed so much to the business. Chris and Alex joined us as trainees and have contributed a huge amount to the success of our market-leading Film & Television Group and the firm as a whole. Jason’s corporate and regulatory expertise will continue to be valuable across all our practice areas. Through a combination of hard work and excellent legal and commercial advice, they have won the trust of colleagues and clients and have allowed the firm to build wider and deeper relationships within valuable clients which will help the firm in the long term.”

Hammond joined the firm as a trainee in 2004 and joined the Film & TV Group in 2012, having initially qualified into the employment team. His practice principally focuses on the firm’s many leading US TV and SVOD clients and their UK and European productions. He is currently spending a year in Los Angeles, overseeing Wiggin’s LA outpost.

Lea joined the firm as a trainee in 2007 and joined the Film & TV Group on qualification. His work is focussed on studio and independent film production and distribution matters.

Fisher joined the Wiggin corporate group in 2012 and leads transactions across the firm’s key sectors, with a focus on technology/e-commerce. He is also a core member of the firm’s betting & gaming group and, in addition to advising on M&A transactions in the sector, he acts for suppliers to the online gambling industry on regulatory matters.

The four other internal partner promotions were Grainne McKenna (December 2016), Rachel Alexander (April 2016), Gurminder Panesar (April 2016) and Daniel Whybrew (April 2017). In November 2017 the firm merged with Redd bringing its specialist IP team to 20 lawyers.
