PMC Highlights Its Burgeoning Role In The Immersive Audio Market At NAMM 2020

UK-based reference monitor manufacturer PMC will be highlighting the importance of its products in the burgeoning immersive sound market by making a PMC-equipped Dolby Atmos® demo suite the centerpiece of its booth (16112) at NAMM 2020.

Artists, composers, sound designers, producers and recording engineers will have an opportunity to experience a 7.1.4 Dolby Atmos enabled system, consisting of the company’s award-winning large, active three-way MB3-XBD-A monitors (left, right and center channels), four PMC twotwoSub2 monitors and a total of 16 Wafer 1 compact slimline monitors for the surround, rear and height channels. Content will be played back using Dolby Atmos renderer software, Pro Tools and Focusrite RedNet I/O.

The accuracy, power and transparency of PMC products has long made them the monitors of choice for many major Hollywood composers, producers and mixers such as Oscar-nominated music scoring mixer Dennis Sands, Game of Thrones composer Ramin Djawadi, composer Thomas Newman and Grammy and Emmy Award winning producer Tommy Vicari. The company is now working closely with Dolby as a strategic partner for its Atmos immersive audio solution, which is already a roaring successful in the film and TV world and is now being adopted by the audio and music mixing community.

Maurice Patist, President PMC USA, says: “The monitoring system we are showcasing at NAMM highlights the benefits of mixing in Dolby Atmos, the leading immersive audio solution adopted by the audio post and music mixing community. Capitol Studios in Los Angeles and Universal Music in Nashville are among a number of world-class facilities that have installed PMC-based Dolby Atmos studios, and will be playing music mixed in those facilities in our NAMM demo room.”

At NAMM, PMC will also showing other products from its extensive range of professional monitors, including its ever popular twotwo series, its powerful IB2 and BB6 monitors and the result6 compact nearfield reference monitor that combines all the attributes for which the company’s pro reference monitors are internationally renowned and distils them into an affordable monitor with the emphasis on elegant simplicity.

“People tell us that they love the accuracy and transparency of PMC speakers, and the fact that they handle big bass sounds brilliantly – even sounds like kick drums that hit a speaker really hard,” Patist says. “But the main thing our clients love about PMC monitors is that they are such a marvellous conduit for music and sound that you can totally trust what you are hearing and forget, to the point where you can forget they are there.”
